Visiting folks

A few pictures from our trip to SE TX in early January.

Hannah with Rhonda

Hannah and Kennedy

Me, Hannah, Rhonda, Nicky, and Aunt Matalee

While there we visited my childhood friend, Lisa, and met one of her daughters, Abby. Hannah is not mad about being there, she's mad because we made her stop playing to take a picture!

Hannah and I went to visit Clint and Nicole and to meet Khale and Emily. Hannah was mildly interested in the babies, but very interested in all the baby toys.

Amy and Eric came over as well so of course we needed a group picture. This time Eric was sad to stop playing.

Pete and I went to eat with Stacia and John, and Taryn and a friend of hers. Stacia, Taryn and I took an obscene number of pictures of ourselves. A few of them we even liked!

Drinking our margarita flavored tequila. If you run out of margarita mix you can apparently just reverse the amounts, according to John!

On the way home we stopped at our park again. Hannah tried out the big girl swings.

And the merry-go-round with Nah-ma.

And a really tall slide.

She did not get on the see-saw like last time.

You may have noticed the beads that Hannah is wearing in a lot of the pictures since Christmas. They are kukui nuts from Hawaii. Mom gave them to her for Christmas and Hannah would happily wear them 24 hours a day if she could. Occasionally it seems that she's being nice as she takes them off and offers them to you, but she's a tease. If you reach for them she snatches them back, puts them on, and laughs and laughs.

Quinceniera

This weekend Pete, Hannah and I went to Asherton to attend the quinceniera of Pete's childhood friend and neighbor's daughter. And, just for an interesting fact, the grandparents (the quineniera's father's parents) are Pete's Godparents. And her mother is a distant cousin of Pete's. We're all kinds of connected!

Anyway, Hannah had a fabulous time at her first dance. I really think she would have kept dancing till the music ended (at 11pm) if we had let her. As it was she missed her 8pm bedtime by more than an hour and a half!

Here are some of my favorites from the weekend -

All 4 of us ready to go.

Hannah enjoying the mariachis.

The quinceniera and her parents, taken from way to far away.

The father/daughter dance was one of Pete's favorites, "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw. He and Hannah had to dance too.

The Big Weekend

Friday we left on a trip to SE TX. Pete and I were going to attend my 10 year reunion. Hannah was just along for the ride. For lunch we stopped at a little park that had a see saw! Hannah didn't really like her first see saw experience. In fact, we may have scared her for life.

Hannah has become quite an expert walking on all types of terrain.

Saturday we all went to a family picnic at the park. Hannah had lots of other kids to play with and I enjoyed seeing so many old friends.

This is where there should be pictures from the reunion. Unfortunantly I forgot the camera that night. I should be getting pictures from different people soon. (If you are one of them please send me pictures as soon as you can!!) I'll just say that I had a good time seeing the people I wanted to see (you know who you are!) but I doubt I'll go to any more reunions.

Sunday afternoon Pete, Hannah and I went to the fair. We met Tara and Levi there, and later Jessica, Peyton, Robin and Addison, and even later Stacia, Kennedy, Diane, and Katie. We had a lot of fun.

I always wondered why Mom never wanted to take us to the petting zoo at the fair and always skipped it for the Ag pavillion. I thought she just didn't want to pay for it. Well we went in and I learned why. It's depressing! All those sad, over fed animals! Hannah liked the animals, and I hope she had fun cause it's the last time I'm taking her in one of those places.

We liked the Ag pavillion better!

We saw Elsie in the expo hall.

Hannah at a yummy corndog.

Checking out the rides with Tara.

Kennedy and I played some games. I won a big, pink UT ball and a stuffed unicorn.

Hannah went on her first "ride" with Kennedy, Katie, and me.

By the time we left everyone was exhausted.

Hannah was ready for bed almost as soon as we got home.

But not too tired to do a quick puzzle.

Or to say good night to Kennedy, Daisy and Fudge.

Monday morning Hannah had to tell everyone good bye. She was a bit sleepy and not excited about the idea.

**These next pictures are from my camera phone.**
We stopped at a mall for lunch and to let Hannah move around a little. After we got inside, without the camera, of course, we found out there was a carosel and a play area inside. Naturally Hannah and I had to ride the carosel. We wanted to ride a horse, but I wasn't allowed to sit on it with her and she wouldn't sit on it by herself.

Finally on the road for real!

The third party

Hannah and I went to Beaumont on Friday for a whole number of things. Dad came with us which was nice - so much easier to use a rest room without having to hold Hannah too! On our trip we had lunch with Angela, went to two graduation parties, went to a baby shower, had a birthday dinner party for Hannah, Taryn, and Kennedy, and went to another birthday party. Yeah, we were busy!

While we were there Hannah really started walking. She'd been toddling around for a while from object to object, taking a few steps at a time. By the time we came home she was walking all over the place!

We got to spend quite a bit of time at the boat club. Billy and Shirley, some good family friends who worked there, were retiring. Hannah and I hung out with Dad and Harry and visited with them for several hours. We also saw a lot of other old boat club friends. It isn't the same down there as it was when I was growing up, but it felt a little like the old days with all the familiar people around. And I really enjoyed being there with Hannah as well as some of my childhood friends and their kids. Unfortunately I have no pictures from the boat club, for various reasons.

Hannah, Taryn, and Kennedy's birthday dinner

Sunday at Kennedy's birthday party Hannah played with Londyn who is just a few days younger, and Logan, Londyn's older brother.

Kennedy and I tried to take a picture of us and Hannah, but Hannah wasn't interested. But aren't Ken and I cute?

Monday morning before we went home Hannah had cereal and bananas with Uncle Harry.

Then she picked a pear with Grandpa.

And then we came home. Man I'm tired!
