New haircuts, new words, and SINGING!

Hannah and I both got haircuts today. I am so happy with them both. I have paid for 2 haircuts for Hannah. The first was fine. It got her hair evened up and out of her eyes, but was nothing special. The second was a joke. They would not let me hold her so, oddly enough, she was terrified and screamed the whole time trying to get me to pick her up. Her bangs got semi-trimmed and that was it.

I have not had a hair cut anywhere but a Supercuts type place since I moved to Austin 5 years ago.

I love both of our haircuts. Hannah now has a few curls around her neck (that you can't see in the picture). I have a haircut that I like, know how to style, and don't have to do a lot with. And as a bonus, it looks good on ME!

Hannah...

And me...

For a while now Hannah has been calling water "wawa". Pete and I call it agua (Spanish for water) to try to encourage a little bit of Spanish in her vocabulary. Wawa does sound a lot like agua, but it sounds lot like water too. Today it started getting much clearer and she is definitely saying agua. Yay! Other new words are chin, foot, behbee (belly button), and cheeee (cheese).

Tonight while we were putting Hannah to bed she gave us a wonderful surprise. Pete and I usually put her to bed together. He brushes her teeth, I read her a few stories, we say a prayer and then sing a song. More often than not we sing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" because it's not too long and we know all the words. Tonight as we were singing, at the appropriate time, Hannah burst out "sky!" She then continued to babble in tune, occasionally getting another word in. AND she did the hand signs while she sang! What a smarty!

Here are a few pictures of Hannah talking on her new cell phone. Dad gave her an old phone that is not connected, but still has a good battery. She loves having a phone that lights up and buttons that make real noises. It's a good thing it's not connected because she's called all kinds of people whose numbers are stored in the phone book!

Quinceniera

This weekend Pete, Hannah and I went to Asherton to attend the quinceniera of Pete's childhood friend and neighbor's daughter. And, just for an interesting fact, the grandparents (the quineniera's father's parents) are Pete's Godparents. And her mother is a distant cousin of Pete's. We're all kinds of connected!

Anyway, Hannah had a fabulous time at her first dance. I really think she would have kept dancing till the music ended (at 11pm) if we had let her. As it was she missed her 8pm bedtime by more than an hour and a half!

Here are some of my favorites from the weekend -

All 4 of us ready to go.

Hannah enjoying the mariachis.

The quinceniera and her parents, taken from way to far away.

The father/daughter dance was one of Pete's favorites, "My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw. He and Hannah had to dance too.

Our little ladybug

Today was Hannah's first big Halloween event. She participated in the Buda MOMS Club Trunk or Treat. We parked in a parking lot, decorated the trunks of our cars, and the kids went car to car trick or treating. It was very cool.

Hannah was the cutest little ladybug ever. Making her costume was not the easiest thing I've ever done. First I made a red and black tu-tu. What's cuter than a baby in a tu-tu? Well, not a screaming baby who wont move except to yank violently at the offensive tulle! I finally got the thing off of Hannah and left it in the living room for her to get used to. But she never did. She skirted way out around it whenever she went past.

Plan number two was to make wings out of felt. The felt seemed like it would flop around a lot, so since I had some extra I doubled it by sewing two pieces together to make it a bit more firm. Hannah did not freeze and scream, she just yanked and cried, "NONONONONONONONO!"

So this morning I took the wings apart, cut them down to the smallest i could make them without cutting into the spots, and tried again. Amazingly the third time was a charm. Hannah loved her wings! And I don't think her new big girl shoes hurt any either!

Here is our trunk, all ready for trick or treaters.

Ladybugs need lots of sleep before trick or treating!

And ladybugs are not all that happy when they first wake up and have a camera in their face!

Let the trick or treating begin!

Making off with the loot (and did you notice that I forgot her treat bag at home? It was ok, an HEB bag holds things just as well!)

Do you see the big girl shoes?!

Doesn't she look like a little bug here?! (By the way, she has a name tag on her back because we voted on costumes. Hannah didn't win, but there is always next year!)

Hannah made out really well. She got lots of snack size things like pretzels, Teddy Grahms, Nutter Butters, a few suckers, and a Halloween coloring page - and a Starburst that I ate for her since it wouldn't keep well till she's old enough!

Austin Family Music Festival

We are getting new floors in our living room, Laminate wood, so Hannah and I had to stay out of the way today while Pete and Dad installed them. Mom came along to keep us company. We went to the Austin Family Music Festival at Pioneer Farms for Hananh's first concert. I think it is safe to say that all three of us had a blast!

First we saw Joe McDermott. Hannah liked him a lot, but I think she was a little uncertain about everything right then. Like, could she really walk around all these people and dance and stuff?

Checking out the "insturment petting zoo"

Watching Joe (and getting braver)

Do you think this girl loves her Grandma?!

Can you find Grandma?

Found her!

What a smartie, she found the way out!

Silly girls.

Hannah's latest fascination is chairs - chairs that are her size. She finds them all over.

We checked out the horses (and also some cows, pigs, donkeys, and chickens). Apparently horses say "woof woof". Actually, it seems that any four legged animal with hair says "woof woof".

After checking out the animals we caught an impromtu Biscuit Brothers preformance. Hannah loved it! She kept trying to dance, but we were sitting on steps and there wasn't much room so she settled for lots of bouncing.

Next it was time for Sarah Hickman. Hannah was a bit braver for this show. She wandered around quite a bit.

After the show Hannah got Sarah Hickman's autograph!

Next there was the official Biscuit Brother's show. Hannah loves the Biscuit Bros, but she was so incredibly tired that we only made it thru a few songs. Still, it was enough to know that they were great!

It was nearly 2 when we left, but the house was still a construction zone so we were forced to go shopping. We went to the Round Rock outlets and Hannah got her first big girl shoes. She got red Keds and black Stride Rite Mary Jane's. They are adorable and she is very proud of her shoes.

The Big Weekend

Friday we left on a trip to SE TX. Pete and I were going to attend my 10 year reunion. Hannah was just along for the ride. For lunch we stopped at a little park that had a see saw! Hannah didn't really like her first see saw experience. In fact, we may have scared her for life.

Hannah has become quite an expert walking on all types of terrain.

Saturday we all went to a family picnic at the park. Hannah had lots of other kids to play with and I enjoyed seeing so many old friends.

This is where there should be pictures from the reunion. Unfortunantly I forgot the camera that night. I should be getting pictures from different people soon. (If you are one of them please send me pictures as soon as you can!!) I'll just say that I had a good time seeing the people I wanted to see (you know who you are!) but I doubt I'll go to any more reunions.

Sunday afternoon Pete, Hannah and I went to the fair. We met Tara and Levi there, and later Jessica, Peyton, Robin and Addison, and even later Stacia, Kennedy, Diane, and Katie. We had a lot of fun.

I always wondered why Mom never wanted to take us to the petting zoo at the fair and always skipped it for the Ag pavillion. I thought she just didn't want to pay for it. Well we went in and I learned why. It's depressing! All those sad, over fed animals! Hannah liked the animals, and I hope she had fun cause it's the last time I'm taking her in one of those places.

We liked the Ag pavillion better!

We saw Elsie in the expo hall.

Hannah at a yummy corndog.

Checking out the rides with Tara.

Kennedy and I played some games. I won a big, pink UT ball and a stuffed unicorn.

Hannah went on her first "ride" with Kennedy, Katie, and me.

By the time we left everyone was exhausted.

Hannah was ready for bed almost as soon as we got home.

But not too tired to do a quick puzzle.

Or to say good night to Kennedy, Daisy and Fudge.

Monday morning Hannah had to tell everyone good bye. She was a bit sleepy and not excited about the idea.

**These next pictures are from my camera phone.**
We stopped at a mall for lunch and to let Hannah move around a little. After we got inside, without the camera, of course, we found out there was a carosel and a play area inside. Naturally Hannah and I had to ride the carosel. We wanted to ride a horse, but I wasn't allowed to sit on it with her and she wouldn't sit on it by herself.

Finally on the road for real!
